RINKITS SPECIES GUIDE
RULES
Rinkits are not an open species, but they can be made by asking a species admin. This is to ensure they stay within their story and world. The only thing that makes them a closed species is the world they are associated with. If you want to make a rinkit oc who is not a part of their world, please do so!! You do need permission to do that! Just please don’t call them a rinkit.
Only species admins can make Xenno rinkits. This is because most Xenno rinkits are dead.

Species Overview
Rinkits are an artifical human subspecies made with the Genome Building Engine (GBE) in the year 1998. The average rinkit can range in size from 6 ft (182 cm) to 10 ft (304 cm) in height and 200 lbs (90.7 kg) to 1500 lbs (680.3 kg) in weight. They possess the ability to adapt their genes during the first 2-3 years of their life to best suit their environment, and can re-enter this stage of development is the environment is too stressful. The point a rinkit will re-enter adaptation varies between individuals.
This is a reference of a basic rinkit. Rinkits have manes running from the back of the head to the tip of the tail, five gills on the sides of their necks (ik there’s three in the image :( ) and a “faceplate.” They can run on all fours , but prefer to stay on two legs. Rinkits also have small sensory organs on the tips of their ears that can sense vibrations and electricity.

Skull and Neck Muscle Reference. Rinkits have gills lining their necks that allow for them to smell. They also have at least two rows of teeth, the outermost row being carnivore aligned and the innermost row being herbivore aligned.
Hand and Foot Paw References. All rinkits have webbing between their paws, but the amount can vary. They also have highly dexterous feet, which enables them to climb very easily.
A Rinkit’s faceplate can be any simple shape.
All rinkits possess a venomous harpoon in their tongues. They drool extensively when their mouths are exposed to open air,but their drool does not contain any venom. Rinkits also possess 1-3 pairs of mandibles that are stored in their throats.
Rinkits are highly social; they are drawn towards living in groups ranging from 3-20 individuals consisting of humans and other rinkits.
A Bit about CommunicationAside from normal speech, rinkits use a variety of vocalizations to communicate. This forms a rudimentary language known as “Kitlang”. These vocalizations include: clicking (used as a greeting and a good-bye), humming (used alongside body language to indicate someone or something), purring (used to show kinship) , hissing (used to indicate negative emotions) , whistling (used to indicate positive emotions), and screeching (rinkit swear words). Rinkits tend to be very animated and use a lot of body language while speaking.
MUTATIONS
Due to a rinkit’s flexible genes, mutations happen frequently. These can range from minor changes , such as a change in ear size or fur thickness to things as major as developing fins or spikes.Deon and Xenno RinkitsCertain mutations are so extreme that they are considered a separate variation of rinkit, known as a Deon Rinkit. Deon rinkits typically originate from an adapted rinkit getting heavily injured.
XENNO (Pronounced “Zen-no”) rinkits solely originate from Regenerative facilities, and can be most easily identified by the “XE-[FOUR DIGIT NUMBER] “ tag found on their right shoulders. Most XENNO rinkits have died before escaping the Regenerative facilities, which is why their numbers are so limited.
Examples of Mutations and Variations
Deon rinkits have “fanged” faceplates, flared gills, and larger manes. They range from 10 ft (304 cm) to 15 ft (457 cm) and 900 (408 kg) to 2000 (907 kg) lbs. Their faceplates turn to a chitin-like material and their eyes are exposed.
This is an example of a xenno rinkit next to a normal rinkit. Xenno rinkits don’t have any distinct traits to themselves other than the XE tag, but they tend to have very extreme adaptations.
